Dubai Maritime City
Dubai Maritime City was conceived as a home for the maritime industry, and it still is. What has changed is the arrival of a residential waterfront along its edge, where a series of high rise towers now face the open Gulf and the skyline of the city's older districts.
At a glance
Dubai Maritime City is a 249 hectare peninsula on reclaimed land between Port Rashid and the Dubai Drydocks, owned by DP World. It combines maritime industry with a growing waterfront district of residential and mixed use towers.

Character
The peninsula is a place of contrasts. On one side are shipyards, berths and the businesses that serve them. On the other, a waterfront promenade of around three and a half kilometres frames new residential and hotel towers. The views take in Port Rashid, the cruise berths and, across the water, Jumeirah and Downtown Dubai on the horizon.

Day to day
Residents here look for sea views and a central position without the density of the more established towers further south. The promenade is the social spine, with retail, cafés and leisure planned alongside it. Next door at Mina Rashid, the Hamdan bin Mohammed Cruise Terminal, the QE2 floating hotel and the new Rashid Yachts & Marina community add a maritime neighbourhood, while Jumeirah 1, La Mer and the historic districts around Dubai Creek are a short drive away.

Connections
The peninsula sits close to Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai International Airport. Dubai Maritime City plans include RTA bus and marine transport stations, and the wider area is served by the main roads linking Bur Dubai, Jumeirah and Downtown Dubai.

A good fit for

Worth weighing

- Many towers are under construction, so the neighbourhood will feel unfinished for some time.
- Shops, schools and daily services are still limited and rely on nearby districts.
- Planned public transport stations are not yet all in operation.
